The sister of Hannah Kobayashi, the Hawaii woman who was at the center of a Southern California missing persons investigation, posted an update to the family’s GoFundMe page on Thursday offering refunds to people who donated.

Hannah Kobayashi’s family announced Wednesday that the 30-year-old woman had been found safe, but did not clarify when or where she was found.

“We are incredibly relieved and grateful that Hannah has been found safe. This past month has been an unimaginable ordeal for our family,” Sydni Kobayashi wrote on the GoFundMe page. “We want to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us during this difficult time. Your kindness and concern have meant the world to us.”

The update also stated that donations had been turned off, and that those who want a refund can submit a claim by Dec. 18 and “it will be honored.”

The GoFundMe page raised over $46,000 for costs to support both the search for Hannah Kobayashi and funeral expenses for her father, Ryan Kobayashi, who died by suicide on Nov. 24 after the family went to Los Angeles last month to search for her.

Hannah Kobayashi landed at Los Angeles International Airport on Nov. 8 and was expected to catch a connecting flight to New York City, according to her family. She missed that flight and was reported missing five days later.

After missing the flight, she sent her family messages saying she felt scared and suggested someone was attempting to steal her money and identity.

Los Angeles police recovered video documenting Hannah Kobayashi crossing into Mexico on foot through a San Diego land port on Nov. 12.

Police officials said she intentionally missed her connecting flight and that there was was no evidence of human trafficking or foul play.

Her family said they were investigating whether she may have been part of an immigration marriage scam.
