Australian Open 2025 LIVE updates: Djoker in semi showdown with Zverev, Sinner takes on sensational Shelton; Gadecki, Peers triumph in all-Aussie final

Novak Djokovic has sensationally pulled out of the Australian Open amid boos and jeers from the Rod Laver Arena crowd.
After dropping the first set to Alexander Zverev in a tie-breaker he turned to the central umpire and withdrew because of his leg injury. He had the top of his left leg heavily strapped.

Nine commentator John McEnroe was critical of the crowd for booing when the chair umpire announced the Serbian could no longer continue.
“They can’t be booing them, for God’s sake,” McEnroe said.
“He has won this 10 times. Unreal.”
Alexander Zverev also leapt to Djokovic’s defence after the ongoing jeers from the crowd.
“I know that everybody paid for tickets there, and hopefully gets to see a great five-set match,” he said in his on-court interview.

“But you’ve got to understand Novak Djokovic is something who has given this sport for the past 20 years absolute everything of his life.
“He has won this tournament with an abdominal tear. He has won this tournament with a hamstring tear.
”Please be respectful.”
Both players held serve throughout the opening set to force the set into a tie-breaker, but Djokovic had to save five break points.
The tie-breaker was also going on serve before Djokovic dumped an easy volley into the net on the final point, losing the tie-breaker 7-5.
Will this be the last time Australian tennis fans see him play?
Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz must be watching on with mixed emotions.
